If you're traveling to Santa Teresa or any other beach destination you might have to stay a day in San Jose on your way here or as your heading home. Let me help you plan your time in the city so you can maximize your vacation.
Things to do:
Braulio Carrillo National Park
If you find yourself with a day in San Jose you can have a lot of fun at Braulio Carrillo National Park in Heredia Province, 30 minutes from the city.

Places to stay:
$$$: Courtyard Marriot is close to the airport in Alajuela, it's very comfortable with ncie breakfast, normally between $100-$200 a night.
$$: If you would like to stay closer to town and go see some bars and restaurants, you can find many nice and affordable condos on airbnb that are in the neighborhood Escalante that is a nice area close to downtown San Jose.
$$: Hotel Luisiana- A nice affordable hotel in Santa Ana with an incredible italian restuarant.
$: If you are traveling on a budget Aljuela Backpackers offers nice, clean rooms with AC. It's located very close to the airport and if you have a short layover before going to your next destination offers everything you need.

La Esquina de Buenos Aires
A beautiful little Argentinian Restaurant has amazing meat, wine and ambiance. Find them on google and call ahead for a reservation as they are usually packed.
Maxi's By Ricky:
Maxi's is authentic Carribean food and vibes, in Escazu. Try agua zapo and rice and bean with chicken or oxtail.
Nightlife:
Antik: EDM, good vibes, check Instagram anitkcr for updates on events and djs.
Barrio La California: A neighborhood that has many bars and restaurants.
